SPRING 🌼

Image
3-22-2017 Good news! My weeks are looking better. :) I got out of the office when it was still bright. Also, it's officially Spring. πŸŒ±πŸŒ·πŸŒΌπŸ’ Thank God I'm surviving the busy season. I received another award. Hehe.  This one's from the partner. The managers & partners do recognize our work.  Seriously, thanks for the encouragement. I needed that to keep pushing through the tax season. * * * Last weekend, I went to SuBe Sushi. Great food with awesome company. πŸ˜‰ I got SuBe Ball and Tokyo Tower. Both were delicious and flavorful.  I don't have a lot to say for this week's blog. I'll come up with more interesting things for next week! Haha. πŸ˜…

Busy Season Update

Image
3-11-2017 It's been awhile since I wrote my last blog. 😟 I've been good at uploading at least one per week until busy season started.  What's busy season like for an associate?  (This is 100% from my experience with the place that I'm working at. Other firms/offices can be very different.) 1. Work 65 to 80 hours per week.  This is 12 to 16 hours per day during the weekdays and I work on weekends.  πŸ˜ͺ😫 2. Do what seniors and managers tell me to do.  πŸ€– 3. Become best friend with a computer and Excel.  πŸ’»πŸ’»⌨πŸ–± 4. Gain at least 10 pounds.  The firm's been providing us dinner and a cube filled with snacks. It's good that they are feeding us, but I don't have time to workout so there's no way I can stay fit. πŸ•πŸ”πŸŒ―πŸ©πŸ« What I like most about this job?  (Trying to add some positive notes. πŸ˜…) 1. Working as a team. 2. People.  From coworkers to partners, they are supportive and encouraging. * * * So, I've been working on federal and state tax retu...

Shhh... This is very personal.

1-19-2017 ~ 1-27-2017 Last Friday, I got an upset stomach after eating unrefrigerated food for lunch. I rarely get sick and don't like taking medicine. So instead, I had wine πŸ˜‹. * * * On Saturday, my date took me out for brunch at Brix. We had bottomless mimosa 🍾. Then, we went to the ChocolateFest. Chocolate is my favorite "candy" (yes.. I said candy). There was about 90 booths and most of them were giving out samples. I've never had that much chocolate in a day. Hehe. 🍫🍫🍫   We had more drinks. Hmmm..This week's blog involves a lot more alcohol. BUT, this is unusual. People who know me, you know that I don't drink much πŸ˜…. Anyways, we learned about the chocolate making process. It starts out with cacao pod. I tried the white stuff inside it that looks like intestines. It was interesting... After spending 4~5 hours at the festival, we went to eat at a Thai restaurant. Forgot the name of the place... but it was really good! ...

What do I know about LOVE...

12-19-16 ~12-24-16 After coming back from Chicago, I took a week off of work. Our managers encouraged us to take PTO before the busy season.  I went home for the week. I'm glad I live close to home so I can visit whenever. My mom prepared delicious home-cooked meals for me. This is LOVE πŸ’•. Spicy stir-fried squid Korean fried chicken We painted our nails in front of the fireplace and watched Zootopia. My puppy, Chico 🐢 Detoxing All I wanted for Christmas was to spend time with my family. I am grateful to have a place where I can call a home and a family who's supportive and caring.  For the past several years, I learned the importance of family. We went through so much suffering that we can't even explain. We grieved, cried, consoled, and prayed together. I had to make myself emotionally numb. This was the only way to get through each day.  It affected my relationship with others as well. I had to lie many times. Because I distrusted everyone, I could...

Frosty Chicago

12/10/16 - 12/12/16 Saturday morning, I went from PDX to PHX. My final destination was ORD. My flight at PHX got cancelled... 😲😲😲 My Chicago families were waiting for me. I started panicking because it was my grandma's birthday and I didn't want to miss the birthday party.  The American Airlines customer service lady didn't know what she was doing... took forever to rebook my flight to the next available one. After 30 minutes and asking two of her co-workers she finally had me on standby for the next flight. Standby doesn't guarantee anything... I started asking God to help me get on the flight. They started calling the people on standby. 33 people were all waiting desperately. I was listed as the 8th person. THANK GOD. They called my name and I was the last one.  Bye Pheonix. After all the trouble, I finally arrived at Chicago! Beautiful airport. I was worried the airlines would have lost my bags. Again thank God, they arrived in one piece. It was good to se...

12.2.16 - 12.9.16 I went home (again) for the weekend because my sister visited from D.C. My family came to Portland to pick us up. So then we stopped by at the H-Mart and had kalbi tang (κ°ˆλΉ„νƒ•) for lunch. One of the best things of going home is that I get to eat home-cooked meal. I forgot to take pictures πŸ˜“. I wanted to go bowling with my whole family so we ended up here.  I'm the Champion!  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I wished I took Monday off to spend a little more time with my family. I miss them so much 😒. On Monday, few church people and I went out to Grassa. I ordered the Mac n Cheese. As you can see, it was delicious! And I brought some Nakji Bokkeum (λ‚™μ§€λ³ΆμŒ) that my mom made and added rice. This was Wednesday night. We're at Tea Chai Te. Wherever tea places I go, I always get taro bubble tea. It's my fave 😍. Snow day! We rarely get snow in Eugene and Portland's similar. BUT, we got some snow on Thursday. I did go to the office just to take pictures. Unfortun...
